Ethical business is good business
Russell Europe believes worldwide ethical practices and principles are now more important than ever. We work to a strict code of practice to help ensure none of our manufacturing processes put the environment at risk. Equally vital is the welfare of the people who make our garments, wherever they are in the globe.
We have been Öko-Tex certified since 1997, and we’re also committed to having all our manufacturers WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production) accredited.
So when you choose garments from Russell Europe you know your choice is as ethically sound as it is business wise.
WRAP and Öko Tex – what does that really mean?
We are really excited about WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production), and are proud to promote its message whenever we can. Unlike a lot of ethical policies this one is totally independent, and can be signed up to by any brand that’s willing to ‘walk the walk’ and not just ‘talk the talk’. That makes it much easier for consumers to see which companies are embracing ethical production standards and which ones are not.
By adopting WRAP, ethical manufacturers will be operating to one code of practice that will be implemented and policed by a third party. The code works for the benefit of the clothing industry, the environment and, not least, for the protection of locally-employed workers.
 | | Öko-Tex How do you know when you’re buying clothes that it hasn’t been made at anyone else’s expense? How do you know that the worker who made it was safe and healthy and that no harm was done to the environment? One recognised way is by looking for Öko-Tex approval. |
Öko-Tex is an internationally recognised testing standard which sets standards for substances which might harm people or the environment. We at Russell Europe have been certified by Öko-Tex since 1997, and we’re very committed to the principles of the scheme.
